Kempegowda International Airport is a global airport serving Bangalore India. It is the third largest airport in India and is one of the busiest airports in South India. The airport is named after the founder of the city, and it was the first fully solar-powered airport in the whole state. The airport opened for operations in 2008, and now it become an integral part of the city.

It serves more than 15 million passengers every year. It has 39 airlines to 59 destinations across India and the world. It is over 4,000 acres and is 30 kilometers north of the city. The airport was built in 2005, and it opened in May 2008 as an alternative to HAL Airport.

The airport has 18 self-check-in counters and 53 counters. A new VIP lounge will be there from 21 January 2011. The second terminal started in October 2018 and finished in November 2022. The airport’s cargo is over 11 acres, and it began in January 2009.
The expansion of the Terminal 1 repositioned the busiest airport as an important travel hub. It creates a dramatic presence with a welcoming environment. The airport has 40 gates and a double arm. It has 8 air bridges and 9 remote bus bays. There are 42 aircraft stands, and each has a fuel pit.
A curved roof unifies the new and old facilities, creating a visual identity for the airport. The roof’s shape forms a canopy that protects visitors. There is a big car parking area for 2,000 cars in front of the building at the ground level. The airport has a runway that can house all aircraft.
Energy conservation, renewable energy, and waste management strategies are there at the airport. It enabled the project to get GreenCo Platinum and LEED Gold certification. This airport has a big 11-acre fuel farm to simplify fuel transport and reduce pollution.
The expansion added global gates for newer aircraft, such as the Airbus A380. There are a lot of buses to this airport, and the buses on every route have a fast frequency of every 30 minutes. These buses have luggage racks that can carry 30 people on every trip.
The airport has a modern and sustainable space. It is taking many steps to lower its impact on Earth. Water conservation is encouraged here, and energy-efficient technology is available over the air terminus. Cargo operations are the top priority for the airport. It has three specially designed cargo terminals with modern equipment. The airport has helped trade and commerce to grow in the city.
